Sometimes we have the pleasure of arriving home in the early hours, or perhaps the displeasure at having to get up at dawn, but these hours are the quietest time in this exhaustingly busy city. London at Dawn reveals a view of the city that is rarely seen by its inhabitants. Local people are amazed by the emptiness of the streets, the beauty of the dawn light and the calm that pervades the views of our beautiful capital. The book encouraged great conversations and memories, both from the contributors and those who purchased it – from meeting the dawn’s hour after the birth of their first child, to walking home after meeting a great love or leaving for a great trip. Everyone has a dawn story.

To receive prints in time for Christmas to a UK address:
Unframed orders to be received by 1pm on December 19th
Framed orders to be received by 1pm on December 16th
For all orders over £1,000 I am able to offer a complimentary hanging service in London for yourself or your gift recipient if required. CA is process I have been experimenting with for fifteen years.
Colour acceleration is a “dual film” process.
The result is a negative that has been “solarised”.
All images in Arboreal Dreams are printed on Fuji Supergloss polyester based photographic paper. It is the best photographic paper for my images. Its qualities are deep saturation and high contrast with an archival life of five hundred years.
The image colours are natural and inherit the qualities of the negative and are not manipulated digitally or enhanced.

The Belly Project

“The belly project was an idea I had one morning over coffee. I realised you rarely see the belly being “used” by the media in the way that the more obvious body parts are. Tits and ass have been inflated and drained of their uniqueness a long time ago. And so I wanted to explore this intimate region not truly exploited by the media, a part of us that we find very personal and private – the belly. I set out to ask total strangers to spontaneously expose themselves to me. What I found is an individual’s character comes across in the unconscious gesture they make in the act of revealing their belly. The bellies portraits reveal someone’s personality in a way a traditional portrait wouldn’t. I was asking complete strangers to bear themselves to me and what I was getting in return was nervousness, shyness, brazenness and boldness that was surprising. I found mood and character in unexpected places. Your belly say a lot about the way you’ve chosen to live your life and people are often reluctant to show that - I go to the gym every day, I sit on the sofa all day eating chips, I’m pregnant and I feel confident enough to show it to you every day. Even if people said no to a photo of their bellies everyone laughed and loved the idea! This is a collection of the most sexy, funny, brilliant, beautiful, characterful and odd bellies I photographed.” Anthony Epes
