One-to-one teaching and private groups
I offer a limited number of one-to-one workshops for small groups and individuals who are interested in accelerating their photography knowledge, getting incredible photos of London and experiencing the breathtaking beauty of this city at the best time of day – at dawn.
For all of my one to one workshops I create a personalised program based on needs and desires of each client. London is an incredibly photographic city and I have spent many years searching out the best and most unique places to shoot (many of them are included in my book, London at Dawn)
I will guarantee that on my workshops you will get the best images you have ever taken. I can say that because I’ve taught hundreds of clients now on my workshops and that is the feedback I get from them.
I will take you through my intense photo training program that has taken me years to develop. After the workshop I encourage you to send me the images you have taken and I will provide thoughtful feedback that will give you some ideas on how to continue developing your photography.
The beauty and serenity of dawn
Going out at dawn is simply the best time of day to photograph a city. It is the only time when you can see the city as it really is: free from the hordes of people that crowd its streets; free from the traffic that blocks great views; free from stress and pandemonium, an environment where you are able to concentrate and focus on your craft, and light that is as fresh and crisp as morning dew.
Photography is an extraordinarily creative outlet – it has taught me how to truly see and experience the world; to not just pass through, busy and distracted, on my way to somewhere else, but to learn to pause and notice the beauty of light in our everyday surroundings. That is why I love to teach photography – to help others have this incredible creative experience, and bring your personal vision to life.
Personalised program
My one day personalised workshops last approximately 5 hours and are all taught on location. We’ll meet an hour before dawn – to shoot the ‘blue hour’ as the sky changes from black to blue. We’ll shoot the sunrise from one of the many epic spots I’ve found, and then wander the early morning streets ending up somewhere like Columbia Road Flower Market or Borough Market.
In order to create a personalised photo workshop for you that will radically improve your photography I will need you to:
- Fill out a questionnaire about your experience, interests and desires in photography
- **optional** Submit 5-10 images of yours that you really like – that way I can gauge how I can help you
- Tell me if you have visited London before and if so – what are you favourite areas/memories/places
Workshop routes
Our most popular routes that we take on my workshops are below, but I have explored most of London for my book London at Dawn and I know great walks through London – so if you have a part that you want to explore just let me know.
- Tower Bridge to Columbia Road
This is a route that starts at the Tower of London – just west of Tower Bridge. We will then wander through the streets of the City, before heading up Brick Lane, as we wind our way through the ever changing cultural face of London
- Westminster Bridge to Borough Market
Our walk starts on Westminster Bridge in the shadows of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. From there we journey on the south side of the Thames to the London Eye and the Southbank and on to Shakespeare’s Globe out to our final destination, Borough Market near London Bridge.

In the workshops I like to emphasize the importance of composition and how it can change your photography. For the 1-2-1’s the emphasis is the same, but includes more in depth image analysis.

I had a really good time doing a private tuition day with Anthony and can thoroughly recommend it to any one else who might be considering. What impressed me most about Anthony’s work was that while it is in a way easy to take a fantastic photo when you have a great scene before you, Anthony manages to make amazing photos out of the most ordinary places around London, and when I compared his offering to the other Photography Workshops that are advertised, his photos are clearly a step above the competition. Being pretty much a novice I learnt a lot about composition, looking for light, and how to take photos in the dawn environment. Very much looking forward to my next session!
