Paris at Dawn and London at Dawn:london_cover_finalparis_cover_final hardback, 128 page books, full colour and are priced at £20 each (+ p&p).

Book description Paris at Dawn and London at Dawn reveal a vision of the capitals that is rarely seen by its inhabitants. The emptiness of its streets, the mesmerising qualities of the dawn light and the calm that pervades these beautiful cities before the chaos of the working day is captured by photographer Anthony Epes in these stunning new collections. The dawn hours of London and Paris, particularly in summer, are often a hidden time, a moment of quiet in these exhaustingly busy cities. As well as capturing the beauty and iconic views of each city Anthony reveals hidden spots, the grittiness and realities of each city, all photographed when the streets are bare, exposed and empty. Following on from the success of the first edition of London at Dawn (Metro Publishing, 2003), Anthony has rephotographed London and presents a a revised and updated collection of work for the second edition. London at Dawn is published alongside his new book Paris at Dawn. Foreword to London at Dawn by Stephen Fry, Foreword to Paris at Dawn by John Bird, founder of The Big Issue. 10% of net proceeds from the book and limited edition print sales from the project will be donated to The Big Issue. About the project – by Anthony Epes

“I have spent over a decade shooting cities at the most magical time of day: dawn. Millions of us live in cities around the world. They can be fast, chaotic and aggressive places. Sometimes, as we live our lives in these intense urban areas, we lose something: the ability to notice the beauty in our surroundings. I wanted to make people fall in love with their cities again. “Seeing deserted streets at the magic hour of dawn can completely change the way we look at our city. Something truly amazing happens at this time of day. For a few brief moments, Mother Nature gives us a glimpse of the miraculous. An awe-inspiring light show while millions of people are still asleep. chaotic, aggressive places. Sometimes, as we live our lives in these intense urban areas, we lose something: the ability to notice the beauty in our surroundings. I wanted to make people fall in love with their cities again. “I’ve dragged myself out of bed in the middle of the night hundreds of times, trying to capture that elusive moment when dawn breaks. Sometimes it lasts a few minutes; sometimes just a few seconds; and sometimes I get nothing at all. “Over a decade ago, I published my first version of London at Dawn the old-fashioned way (through a publisher). I still meet people who bought the book all those years ago, and it always inspires me to get out there and keep shooting the great city at dawn. I’ve got dozens of new images now to add to the old. And so my wife and I have decided to risk it all by re-designing London at Dawn, and publishing an expanded version of the original book ourselves, alongside the new Paris at Dawn. We hope this will help us launch a series of other books about Cities at Dawn. I am really honoured to say that the London book has a foreword by the actor Stephen Fry.  Paris at Dawn is introduced by John Bird, founder of The Big Issue, who had the idea for this series in the first place.”
