Video: Subject fixation

Reading Time: mins

In this short video I explore the possibility that photographers don’t get the results they want. This is due to fixating on their subject. It’s wonderful to be in awe of your surrounding, but photography is a process of creation not just something beautiful.

Yes, Anthony I agree it is a trap when our senses fall prey to being hijacked by beauty of a person or a place.
I guess awareness is most important that the Taj Mahal will remain a subject of beauty but to make an art of it will require extra thinking (“not subject fixation”) or photography technique. So there will be portraits and then there are portraits say by Gregory Heisler with his individual thought process.

    Kudos!

Exactly right brother! Thank you for your comment. I’m also a big fan of Heiesler. I had him speak at my school back in the 90’s. He was very funny and honest.
